This was an excellent interview, y’all! The actor, producer, and podcast host of Cadence13’s “Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo” chatted with Podsauce’s Dax. Tune into this interview to hear Ellen’s plans after Grey’s Anatomy, who her dream guest is on her podcast, what she’s listing to, and more.

Ellen has starred on 18 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy! Dax shared one of his favorites was the bomb squad episode that left viewers on the edge of their seats. Dax says he’s starting a petition for the Emmy Awards so Ellen can receive one. Ellen isn’t too concerned with winning an award, although she said she thought about it a lot when the show was first starting and noticed that newer shows are the ones winning Emmys these days.

Ellen talked about how streaming changed how people interact with Grey’s Anatomy. She has plenty of projects in the pipeline including entrepreneurial endeavors and her podcast.

On “Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo,” she invites people to share their stories and strives to create positivity in the world. So far, the podcast has released over 10 episodes and the average run time is 45 minutes long. Ellen said she has a large young female fanbase she wants to empower and likes to give back to people who have supported her over the years.

Ellen has interviewed Tinx, Malcolm Gladwell, Emily Ratajkowski, Rachel Lindsay, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Cindy Crawford, Adam Grant, Michele Harper, Yara Shahidi, and her co-star Patrick Dempsey on the podcast.

With her work, Ellen additionally wants to provide a platform to others who do not have as large of a fanbase as her. In terms of dream guests, Ellen would love to sit down with Michelle Obama for a long-form interview. She admires inspirational women like Michelle Obama, Jane Fonda, and Melinda Gates.

Ellen shared her podcast picks including “Asian Enough,” and Kara Swisher’s “Sway” and “Pivot.” In the car with her kids, they listen to Pod Squad’s “Cultureverse” when they’re stuck in California traffic. It’s a storytelling series for a young audience, celebrating cultures, mixing backgrounds, educational adventures, and mythology.

Dax and Ellen briefly discussed her appearance in Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” music video, and Dax was curious what music Ellen enjoys. She grew up racing home to catch music videos from folks like Madonna and Prince on MTV. Ellen is a Hip-Hop and R&B fan, and she’s excited for Adele’s new record.

Ellen shared advice she’d tell her younger self, including believing in herself more and listening less to other people’s opinions about her career possibilities.
